Four laps was the margin of victory for the German duo in the HPD ARX-03c Honda of Muscle Milk Pickett Racing at the finish, in their fourth win since the beginning of the 2013 season. What is more, the gap to the holder of the second position in the overall standings in LM P1 was seven laps.
Marino Franchitti and Scott Tucker, who has the distinction of driving the two HPD ARX-03b Hondas of Level 5 Motorsports, won easily as Scott Sharp, who took over from Guy Cosmo, finished in the wheeltracks of the Scot in HPD No.01 of Extreme Speed Motorsports, a lap behind. Although Scott Tucker, the driver and team owner Level 5 Motrsports scored his fourth win of the season, Marino Franchitti still leads the Drivers' standings.
No victory for the Viper GTS-R despite starting from pole position. After a fierce battle between the beautiful American cars, it was ultimately the venerable Corvette C6 ZR1 No.4 of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner that won against the two Vipers, victory margin only 0.267 seconds ! This small gap, as well as the presence of five competitors in the same lap, reflects the ferocity of the battle.
The result of the LM PC class was also tight with three prototypes in the same lap, but the victory went to Jonathan Bennett and Colin Braun, the latter also taking the top spot in the Drivers standing. Finally, in GTC, Jeroen Bleekemolen, who started from pole, stood at the top of the podium along with Cooper MacNeil, ahead of Spencer Pumpelly and Nelson Canache Jr., who scored their second podium of a row. Note that Patrick Dempsey and his team mate Andy Lally finished in fourth place in the class.
Competitors cross the border in the opposite direction for the next round of the ALMS to be held at Road America from 9th to 11th August.
