24 Hours of Le Mans – Toyota very comfortable on the track this evening

After the first free practice (14:00-17:00) and qualifying (19:00- 20:00), an initial hierarchy was established ahead of the second session at 22:00 on Wednesday. Toyota seemed perfectly at ease in its effort to score the pole.

During the night free practice session, teams took the opportunity to adjust their various lights. Race direction sent a handful of competitors back to pit lane to make adjustment and ensure so that car numbers and other various lighting are effective and compliant.

Training continued in the Hypercar class! At 22:21, in the Alpine Elf Matmut garage, mechanics struggled to switch out a rear spoiler. At the same time, the nose on a rival Toyota was being changed, an endeavor later repeated on its sister car. Then the #7 Toyota GR010 driven by Mike Conway took a detour into a gravel trap at Mulsanne, and the Japanese team suspected the brakes were the culprit. The Alpine and Glickenhaus garages were particularly hard at work during the session, but the three rival teams encountered no major problems this evening.

LMP2 | After an incident during qualifying, IDEC SPORT Racing's #48 ORECA 07-Gibson was still in its garage when the light turned green Wednesday evening. The French team made a miracle happen and Paul-Loup Chatin was able to hit the track 25 minutes from the end of the session. Earlier at 22:47, the #24 ORECA 07-Gibson stopped as it was entering the Porsche Curves with mechanical problems. Patrick Kelly was unable to rejoin the free practice with the PR1 Motorsports Mathiasen team's car: after missing his pit, Kelly had to set off again to complete a lap, but failed to do so due for lack of fuel. Team WRT's #31 fell victim to gearbox troubles, and five minutes from the end, DragonSpeed USA's #21 ORECA driven by Ben Hanley had an incident at Indianapolis.

LMGTE Pro | The #52 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo incurred a flat front right tire at the close of the first hour. Daniel Serra stopped on the track, causing the red flag to be deployed for 10 minutes. In the end, Porsche topped the timesheet for the session.

LMGTE Am | Another Ferrari experienced the same problem: Scott Andrews driving the #57 slowly brought the car back to pit lane to avoid further need for repair. The session was cut short by a few minutes when Matteo Cairoli damaged the #56 Porsche 911 RSR-19 at the Tertre Rouge corner.
