Road to Le Mans
The first free practices for the 2021 Road to Le Mans kicked off at 10:30. The quickest time in LMP3 was clocked by the United Autosports team's #22 Ligier shared by Scott Andrews/Gerald Kraut in 3:45.948 ahead of Cool Racing's #19 Ligier of Nicklas Kruetten/Mathieu de Barbuat and DKR Engineering's #3 Duqueine of Jean Glorieux/Laurents Hörr. Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT's #2 Porsche shared by Julien Andlauer/Nicolas Leutwiler led the GT3 field in 3:56.551, followed by Team WRT's #34 and #72 Audi R8s. The outfit is also competing in the LMP2 class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The second hour of free practice was held at night, and the #2 Porsche kept its lead in GT3 with a time of 3:56.547, this time ahead of Iron Lynx's #8 Ferrari shared by Rory Penttinen/Logan Sargeant and AF Corse's #51 of Ken Abe/Edward Cheever. Third in the first session, the #3 Duqueine clinched the pole in 3:45.941, ahead of Nielsen Racing's #7 Ligier of Colin Noble/Anthony Wells and Mühlner Motorsport's #21 Duqueine shared by Moritz Krantz/Ugo de Wilde). The first of two races Road to Le Mans races this weekend, lasting 55 minutes, will start tomorrow at 19:30.
Fun Cup
The Fun Cup field made its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit today. Eighty-nine cars took part in three sessions, one of which was qualifying. After the fastest time of 5:05.368 was clocked by Groupe Lemoine by M3M's #424 in the morning, the second session saw no improvement for the team. Well-known outfit Team WRT took the pole in 5:06.195. The Belgian crew is competing in LMP2 with the #31 and #41 ORECA 07s. In the end, during qualifying, CG Racing's #219 scored the fastest time in 5:03.397. The race is set for Friday from 15:30 to 20:30.
