The #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid that triumphed at the 88th 24 Hours of Le Mans has received a hero’s welcome back at the Toyota Gazoo Racing base in Cologne. The car returned home with the Le Mans trophy and tradition has it that a team that wins the race three times running gets to keep the trophy for good. It will take pride of place in the team’s silverware cabinet, alongside the first Hyperpole trophy in the race’s history.
The #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid #8 was driven by Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley. Its #7 sister car, driven by Conway, Kobayashi and Lopez, finished the race third. Toyota has already announced that it will be competing in the Hypercar class, the new top tier at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) as of next year.
