This afternoon at the Porsche Centre Leipzig in Germany, Team Project 1 revealed the colors of its Porsche 911 RSR to be fielded in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in the LMGTE Am class. The German car will be shared by Jörg Bergmeister, Patrick Lindsey and Egidio Perfetti.
Of the three drivers, Bergmeister alone is quite familiar with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, having participated in the race as many as 17 times between 2002 and 2016. His best result to date is a win in 2004 in the GT class at the wheel of White Lightning Racing's Porsche 911 GT3-RS driven by Patrick Long and Sascha Maassen. He will make available the breadth of his experience to his two teammates - both rookies in the race and at the circuit - as well as the team itself as it has only competed in the various Porsche Carrera Cups and in the Porsche Supercup (curtain-raiser to certain Formula 1 Grand Prix).
Remember, 13 cars are expected in the LMGTE Am class this year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including six Porsche 911 RSRs, five Ferrari 488 GTEs and two Aston Martin Vantages.
German outfit Team Project 1's Porsche 911 RSR will soon head to the Paul Ricard circuit for the FIA WEC Prologue scheduled for Saturday, April 7th.
