Having joined in 2010 the team of James Rumsey, the JR in JRM, Nigel Stepney was the driving force of the JRM and Nissan title the following year in the FIA GT1 World Championship with Lucas Luhr and Michael Krumm. The British team then became involved with the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) by entering an HPD ARX 03a-Honda that finished the 2012 season in third place among the LM P1 privateers. That year, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the trio David Brabham - victorious in La Sarthe with Peugeot in 2009 - Peter Dumbreck and Karun Chandhok demonstrated an unfailing reliability which allowed them to cross the finish line in sixth place overall.

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest extends its sincerest condolences to Nigel Stepney's family and friends.
