24 Hours of Le Mans - More than 9 million dollars for the 1967 Ferrari 275

Today in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Bonhams company put on a car auction, as well as other automobile-related items such as posters, books and watches. The star of the auction: the winning Ferrari 275 GTB/C in the GT class at the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans.

1967 is widely considered the race of the century and so it is no surprise the bids climbed high for the Ferrari 275 of the Swiss duo Dieter Spoerry and Rico Steinemann. Though the record held by the Ferrari 250 GTO went unbeaten, the lovely Italian still went for $9,405,000, or a little more than eight million euros.

Paul Bracq's painting of the Peugeot 905 that won the 1992 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans did not quite reach the same summit since it sold for...$220, or 190 euros!
