Fans flooded back to the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans, determined to turn the page on two years of restrictions. No fewer than 244,200 spectators watched as Toyota Gazoo Racing chalked up its fifth win at the legendary French endurance race. The Japanese carmaker has now surpassed Ford and Alfa Romeo in the league table of most successful manufacturers. The 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship season will next move on to Italy for the 6 Hours of Monza (10 July) before heading to Japan (6 Hours of Fuji on 11 September), and then rounding off the campaign with the 8 Hours of Bahrain (12 November).
The Automobile Club de l’Ouest now looks forward to welcoming the teams, officials and fans back for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary on 10-11 June 2023 – save the date! Toyota will take on the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot and Cadillac, all eager to seal a historic victory. For this landmark in motorsport history, the ACO has appointed a celebrated figure as centenary ambassador – record nine-time winner, Tom Kristensen. Tom will travel to the world’s biggest motoring events in the company of the trophy exclusively designed for the occasion.
In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the highlights of the 90th 24 Hours of Le Mans:
