With G-Drive Racing, Thiriet by TDS Racing and OAK Racing, the Ligier JS P2 will be present in three different competitions: the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), European Le Mans Series and the Tudor United SportsCar (TUSC) Championship. The three teams have in common winning early in the season with the Morgan, the other chassis fabricated by Onroak Automotive, the constructor branch of OAK Racing.
FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC): G-Drive Racing, the chase – Victorious in LM P2 at the first two rounds at Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps with the Morgan-Nissan, the Russian team was forced to retire at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which carried double points. As in 2013, G-Drive Racing and its drivers Roman Rusinov, Olivier Pla and Julien Canal must give chase for the five upcoming races.
European Le Mans Series: Thiriet by TDS Racing, the reconquest – After having won at Silverstone, the inaugural round of the 2014 ELMS with the Morgan-Nissan, the French team of Xavier Combet gave the Ligier JS P2 the best christening ever: the best time of the LM P2s at the qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it reached the second step on the podium. It had a slightly more difficult race at the Red Bull Ring but remains in the race to earn its second ELMS title.
Tudor United SportsCar (TUSC) Championship: OAK Racing, the mutation – Victorious with the Morgan chassis in a round of the new American endurance series, OAK Racing also chose the Ligier JS P2 and even took on the challenge of changing engines mid-season by going from Nissan to Honda HPD. A well-calculated risk when one considers this combination crossed the finish line at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June (as OAK Racing Team Asia) and that the American team Extreme Speed Motorsports also won with this engine in the TUSC this year.
The next round of the 2014 European Le Mans Series will take place on Sunday, September 14th at the Circuit Paul Ricard (France), while the next races of the WEC and the TUSC will come together on Saturday, September 20th at the Circuit of the Americas (Austin, Texas) for "Lone Star Le Mans."
