Winner in 2011 at the Nissan GT Academy - the Japanese manufacturer's gaming program in partnership with PlayStation - the young Brit who will turn 23 on September 9th competed in his first 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013 at the wheel of one of the Zytek-Nissans of the Greaves Motorsport team. Along with Lucas Ordonez and Michael Krumm, he immediately reached the podium, with third place in the LM P2 class (ninth overall). In 2014, he shared with Alex Brundle and Mark Shulzhitskiy the wheel of one of the most anticipated novelties at the 82nd edition of the 24 Hours: the Ligier JS P2 of Oak Racing. The trio made an impressive showing, leading the LM P2 class for half the race before experiencing engine trouble in the last hours which relegated it to fifth place. Meanwhile, Jann Mardenborough infiltrated the Red Bull Junior Team, the Austrian energy drink's developmental pipeline for young drivers. In 2014, he rolled in the GP3 single-seater series where he won on July 20th at Hockenheim. From the pole position, he also clocked the best race lap.

Jann Mardenborough: "I got a good start and was able to control the pace. I could push when I wanted to push and ease off when I wanted to. It feels so good to win. The only time I ever drink Champagne is when I win a race – not a podium finish, only a win. I call it Winner’s Juice!"

Darren Cox (Marque, Marketing and Sales Director for Nissan Motorsport): "This is an incredible result for Jann and a great day for Nissan and for GT Academy. To put it all into context, Jann is competing against drivers who have been racing in
GP3 for as long as Jann has been a racing driver. He wasn’t out karting every weekend from the age of eight. He was going to school and playing football with
his mates. We’re all very proud of him and believe that this is just the beginning of his story."
