Barely 20 years ago, Jaguar achieved the great exploit of winning both of these legendary 24-hour races in the same year. In Florida, the great British manufacturer won with Andy Wallace, Jan Lammers and Davy Jones. Two years earlier, the first two - along with Scottish driver Johnny Dumfries for the occasion - reacquainted Jaguar with victory 31 years after its last win in La Sarthe. As to Jones, he remains to this day the last American to win in Le Mans - in 1996 in a Joest-Porsche TWR along with Alex Wurz and Manuel Reuter.
On June 17, 1990, Jaguar won its seventh victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a fantastic one-two for Martin Brundle-John Nielsen-Price Cobb ahaed of Johnny Dumfries-Jan Lammers-Franz Konrad. A quarter of a century later, with Max Girardo the GM of RM Auctions Europe, Martin Brundle (himself a winner at Daytona in 1988 in a Jaguar with Nielsen and Raul Boesel) presents in this video the No. 388 chassis. First entered under the moniker XJR-9 in 1988 and 1989, then redeveloped, it was called the XJR-12 when it won the 1990 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
