Night-time at the 24 Hours of Le Mans usually ushers in its fair share of unexpected twists, but this year the classification has remained more or less status quo. The few incidents marring the tranquility of the night have not had any significant impact on the class rankings.

A suspenseful moment can be credited to the Rebellion R13s as the #3 entered its garage a few laps before the #1 sister car did the same. It was a false alert on the part of the Swiss team as both cars returned to the track less than 10 minutes later. As a result, the #1 took third place in LMP1 ahead of the #3 returning to its previous position. After closing the gap between the #8 on the lead #7, Fernando Alonso gave the wheel to Kazuki Nakajima who managed to further reduce the margin by four seconds before making a pit stop.

In LMP2, G-Drive Racing remains in control of the class with the #26 ORECA 07, thanks to lap times clocked by a Jean-Eric Vergne in top form. Trailing are the #23 Panis-Barthez Competition car and the #36 Signatech Alpine Matmut car rounding out the same top 3 that has been in place for several hours. Racing Team Nederland's #29 Dallara P217 entered its garage but re-emerged shortly thereafter.

In LMGTE Pro as in LMGTE Am, nothing has changed. The two remaining Porsches (of the four fielded), the #92 and #91, still figure ahead of Chip Ganassi Team USA's #68 Ford GT. And Porsche continues to dominate the LMGTE Am class with the #77 car entered by Dempsey-Proton Racing in part thanks to young driver Julien Andlauer.
