Up to this point in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota has had no surprises. The Japanese marque's two hybrid prototypes continue to carve out a comfortable lead on the Rebellions, the first of which trails the lead Toyota by four laps. The stop-and-go imposed on the #8 TS050 Hybrid for excessive speed in pit lane had no impact on the order in LMP1.
Status quo as well in LMP2 with G-Drive Racing's #26 ORECA 07 still firmly in the lead followed by an armada of French teams.
In LMGTE Pro, the battle is on for second position. The #81 BMW M8 driven by Philipp Eng posed a momentary threat to the #91 Porsche of Frédéric Makowiecki before suddenly falling back. Clearly the victim of a mechanical problem, the BMW M8 was pushed into its garage by mechanics, later returning to the track in 12th position. Chip Ganassi Team USA's #68 Ford GT took advantage of the situation to slip into third place.
The order has changed in LMGTE Am thanks to Julien Andlauer (Dempsey-Proton Racing) overtaking Cooper MacNeil (JMW Motorsport) to reclaim first position for the #77 Porsche 911 RSR at the expense of the #84 Ferrari 488 GTE.
