Since his first appearance in 2010 at the wheel of AF Corse's Ferrari F430 (16th overall and fourth in LMGT2), Giancarlo Fisichella has never missed a running of Le Mans. The Italian driver, who has 223 F1 Grand Prix to his credit, will once again take the start in the 24 Hours in June for the 90th anniversary edition. Fisichella has joined the Iron Lynx team set to field a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in the LMGTE Am class and will join forces with Claudio Schiavoni and Matteo Cressoni.
For Fisichella's participation in LMGTE in the European Le Mans Series, Davide Regon will represent the team along with Schiavoni and Cressoni.
The all-female Iron Dames driver line-up is continuing its involvement in the FIA WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as the European Le Mans Series, still at the wheel of a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo. Like last year, the car will be entrusted to Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey.
Iron Lynx manager Andrea Piccini: “We are thrilled to announce our driver line-ups and series we’ll be competing in for 2022, with some exciting additions and continuity that can only help push Iron Lynx and Iron Dames further forward in the coming year. We had such an incredible year in 2021, and we will approach the upcoming season with that same spirit. We know that it will be difficult to repeat the success of 2021, but this will be our target for this season."
Last year, Iron Lynx won the title in the European Le Mans Series thanks to Matteo Cressoni, Rino Mastronardi and Miguel Molina. The #80 driven by the trio Cressoni/Mastronardi/Ilott claimed the third step on the LMGTE Am podium at Le Mans and the #60 of Schiavoni/Ruberti/Giammaria finished fourth. The team also won the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.
