Like Audi and Porsche, Nissan decided to enter three cars at Le Mans. Among the nine drivers figures French driver Olivier Pla. Generally considered to be at the top of LM P2 these last few years, he is preparing to compete in his first 24 Hours of Le Mans as a factory driver. At the wheel of the No. 23 GT-R LM NISMO, his teammates will be the British duo made up of Jann Mardenborough and Max Chilton.
Olivier Pla: "Since I have raced in endurance, my ultimate goal has been to become a factory driver for a big manufacturer. But if someone had told me one day I would be driving at Le Mans a front wheel drive engine LM P1 prototype, I wouldn't have believed it. But it is an innovative project and an interesting technical challenge, as we are learning everyday. Since we started rolling out, we have changed a lot to improve the car and we are headed in the right direction, whether it be about the aerodynamics, the brakes or the tyres. Test Day will serve as a full-scale test session which will allow us to get our bearings and be as ready as possible for the 24 Hours. In the end, the GT-R LM NISMO was designed for Le Mans, at this circuit that it will be the most efficient since it is very fast in the straights."
The other two GT-R LM NISMOs will be driven by Tsugio Matsuda-Lucas Ordonez-Mark Shulzhitskiy (No. 21) and Harry Tincknell-Michael Krumm-Alex Buncombe.
