24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 - Former winners at the start

Seven former winners, with 14 victories between them, will be at the start of the 83rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A three-time winner - in 2011, 2012 and 2014 - the trio Marcel Fässler-André Lotterer-Benoît Tréluyer (No. 7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro) has also won the first two rounds of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and of course is a contender in its own succession. Audi has a fourth former winner as well, one who is just as motivated: Loïc Duval (No. 8 R18 e-tron quattro), victorious in 2013, along with Oliver Jarvis and Lucas di Grassi.

Joined in 2010 in the win and new distance record, Timo Bernhard (No. 17) and Romain Dumas (No. 18) will each be at the wheel of a Porsche 919 Hybrid, the fastest prototype throughout the beginning of the season, with two consecutive pole positions at the WEC 6 Hours of Silverstone then the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Both Porsche experts for years, they dream of bringing the German manfacturer to the top of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

At Toyota, TS040 Hybrid driver Alex Wurz is still in the race. The leader for 14 hours in 2014 with his teammates Stéphane Sarrazin and Kazuki Nakajima, being forced to retire was a huge disappointment. After 1996 (Joest-Porsche TWR) and 2009 (Peugeot 908 HDi FAP), the great Austrian - who is still the youngest driver ever to win at the 24 Hours (22 years old) - has made a third win at Le Mans his priority.

In addition to these seven former winners on the track, two others will be in the paddock. Teammate of Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard in 2010, Mike Rockenfeller is Audi's reserve driver, while Marc Gené, victorious in 2009 with Alex Wurz (and David Brabham), will serve as a consultant for Nissan for its return to LM P1 with the GT-R LM NISMO.
