On 10-11 June 2023, the 24 Hours of Le Mans will join an exclusive club of international sporting events – such as the Tour de France, Wimbledon and Roland-Garros tennis tournaments, and the Indianapolis 500 – that have celebrated the milestone of their 100th anniversary.
The race has inspired 100 years of competitive drive, emotional highs and lows, extraordinary feats and cutting-edge innovation. After presentation of the one-of-a-kind trophy created in partnership with the Monnaie de Paris that will be awarded to the overall winning team on 11 June 2023, the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is to be revisited via a grand retrospective on the official website and social media platforms.
The text and image content will be divided into four themes of 35 subjects each:
People and machines – Winners or not, countless cars and drivers have left their mark on the history of the 24 Hours through stunning exploits, unique personalities, memorable designs and extraordinary stamina.
Makes, marques and imprints – Le Mans has been a labor of love for constructors for 100 years, with many marques achieving international fame thanks to the race all while expanding its global reach.
Perpetual innovation – The race has long been considered the most respected testing ground for many new features such as fog and LED lights, windscreen wipers, disc brakes, turbochargers, hybrid engines and much more.
The French exception – Every year, the extraordinary experience of the 24 Hours of Le Mans inspires a deep passion in fans, drivers and team crews just as it does in the invaluable track marshals, stewards and volunteers.
Four articles, one per theme, will be published each week from 10 October until the 100th anniversary celebration next June!
