1 / 24 - Wednesday, December 1 - Oh Girls!
A 100% female driver line-up in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, had not seen it since 1991. This year, Cyndie Allemann, Rahel Frey and Natacha Gachnang shared the driving a Ford GT, worthy heir of the legendary GT40.
The story started well and promised well. For their first experience on the circuit of la Sarthe, the Swiss received a warm welcome. In 6th position in the GT1 class, they quickly climbed to fourth. But shortly after 8:01pm an oil leak caused a fire and a big fright for Natasha Gachnang.
"I'm extremely disappointed, especially after all the energy that has been devoted to this race," said Cyndie Allemann in tears. But notwithstanding the failure in the race, did not regret anything, well aware the privilege they had received: "It was a unique experience for any driver. The atmosphere was incredible. I had never seen such passion and such fervor. Fans and media have followed all week, always taking pictures and asking for autographs ... It was pure madness! "
"I will never forget this incredible week, confided to turn Rahel Frey who had not had time to drive in the race. I really hope we will have another chance next year".
