2016 24 Hours of Le Mans – Free practice red-flagged

The free practice session for the 84th 24 Hours of Le Mans was interrupted at 17:49 after the #4 CLM P1/01 caught fire.

Pierre Kaffer was at the wheel of the CLM P1/01 prototype, running in the LM P1 privateer class. Fire broke out following a loss of power just as the car had gone through the first chicane on the Mulsanne Straight.

The German driver got out of the car and immediately pulled off the hood to gain precious seconds for the marshals. The situation was soon under control enabling free practice to restart at 18:03.
