Single-seater development driver for this new discipline, the Brazilian Lucas di Grassi was present at these tests. Teammate at Le Mans of Loïc Duval and Tom Kristensen, the winners of the 2013 edition of the 24 Hours with Audi, he will compete in this new World Championship with the Formula E Audi Sport Abt team. Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok also took the track for the Mahindra Racing team. In a week, the Brazilian and the Indian will compete in the 2014 24 Hours with Aston Martin Racing (LM GTE Pro) and Murphy Prototypes (LM P2), respectively.
Also noteworthy was the presence of Franck Montagny, first driver to be recruited by the American team, Andretti Autosport: in 12 participations in La Sarthe, he claimed four podium finishes (second in 2006 and 2009, third in 2008 and 2011). Several other 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans drivers have infiltrated the Formula E Drivers' Club: Nathanaël Berthon, Marco Bonanomi, Alex Brundle, Sébastien Buemi (best time at the June 1st Test Day with the Toyota TS040 Hybrid), Karun Chandhok, Lucas di Grassi, Nick Heidfeld, Christian Klien, Jon Lancaster, Nicolas Minassian, Stéphane Sarrazin and Bruno Senna. Among the other members of the club figures also Le Mans native, Sébastien Bourdais.
The very first race in Formula E's history will take place September 14, 2014 at Shanghaï (People's Republic of China). The calendar will include 10 races and will end in London on June 27, 2015.
