In 2014, Patrick Dempsey (48 years old) will take the start of his third 24 Hours of Le Mans, after 2009 and 2013. Paul Newman (1925-2008) participated only once, whereas Steve McQueen (1930-1980) competed only as a part of his film "Le Mans".

Patrick Dempsey and Steve McQueen on television - It was on the small screen that the two actors became known to the entire world: Patrick Dempsey since the beginning of the series "Grey's Anatomy" in 2005 as Dr. Derek Shepherd, and Steve McQueen in 1958 in the series "Wanted Dead or Alive" in the role of bounty hunter Josh Randall.

Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, from Indianapolis to Le Mans - It was the filming of the movie "Winning" at the 1968 edition of the Indianapolis 500 that Paul Newman discovered his passion for motorsports that compelled him to participate in the 24 Hours in 1979. And it was at Beech Grove, only about 10 kilometers from Indianapolis, that Steve McQueen was born on March 24, 1930.

Patrick Dempsey, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen...and Porsche - The first two have in common finishing the 24 Hours at the wheel of a Porsche, in second place overall in a 935 (1979) and in fourth place in the LM GTE Am class in a 911 (2013), respectively. Though his insurers forbade Steve McQueen to compete in the 1970 24 Hours, the character that he embodied in "Le Mans" drove a 917, acquired by his company Solar Productions.
