This past June, Toyota and Aston Martin confirmed their involvement in the new Hypercar class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the 2020-2012 FIA World Endurance Championship, and Glickenhaus is preparing its participation in the new class as well. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG) is looking to field two SC007s, one equipped with a twin-turbo V6 associated with a hybrid system. The first testing sessions are expected to take place early next year.
The regulations published in December 2018 by the ACO and the FIA established a new top class in endurance racing: Hypercars. These regulations will go into effect in September 2020. The sleek and highly competitive Hypercars will usher in a new era in the motorsport discipline, with regulations governed by certain founding principles: competition ensured between the various competitors, manufacturers and private teams, a controlled budget and spectacular performance cars.
